There’s a Hindu temple in Jaipur called the Hanuman Ji Temple that’s so chock-full of monkeys that it’s become known as the Monkey Temple. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, then you’ll know that if I have a chance to see some monkeys, I’m going to see those monkeys.
So of course I went to the Monkey Temple. Or did I? Uh… sort of?
I’ve already posted about a couple of different places around Fukuoka with some really impressive cherry blossoms.
Well, pretty much everywhere you go in the city, you’ll see a few trees with the distinctive flowers. You want some photos? Because I’ve got some photos.
Since I happened to be in Fukuoka during cherry blossom season, I figured I should probably take advantage. So I headed to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, which is about a half hour’s train ride outside of the city (it also costs 450 yen to get in, so it’s not kidding around).
Rinnō-ji Temple — a very well-restored temple from the 15th century — seems pretty unassuming at first.
If you look at a map of Kuala Lumpur, you’ll notice a huge green area right in the middle of the city. This area features several museums, a bunch of parks, and more. I was checking out a few museums in the area, and all of a sudden: monkeys.
Yeah, I know, yet another Tokyo park post. But this is the nicest one yet, so I think you’ll just have to put up with one more.
Tokyo seems to be pretty good about making sure that the city has a bunch of green space mixed in with the in-your-face modernity of the majority of the city. I’ve been to a few of these areas so far, though I think the Imperial Palace East Gardens might be my favourite.
I mentioned the Meiji Shrine in a recent post — one of the city’s many other shrines is the Nezu Shrine, and though it’s not nearly as popular, I’d say it’s equally worth visiting.
Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the city and see some trees — it’s especially nice when said trees are actually in an enormous park inside the city. Because let’s face it, that’s just so much easier.
