I don’t need much convincing to eat a fried McDonald’s pie. That crispy, crackily exterior is basically the best thing ever, and no one is ever going to convince me otherwise.
So when I found out that McDonald’s in Japan now has an apple pie that also has custard in it, obviously I had to try it.
It’s not quite as amazing as I had hoped, though the golden fried crust is as delightful as ever.
The creamy custard works quite well with the slightly tart apple pie filling. I wish it had a slightly more pronounced custardy flavour (it’s a bit tasteless), so it wasn’t quite the huge upgrade over the standard apple pie that I had hoped — but it was still pretty good.
