There’s only one thing on the menu at McDonald’s in Cyprus that’s particularly interesting, but it’s a doozy: the Greek Mac, which is essentially McDonald’s take on a souvlaki wrap.
Yes, despite being called the Greek Mac, it has zero resemblance to a Big Mac (aside from the presence of beef). That’s definitely a good thing. I was expecting a Big Mac in pita bread, but I got something that was unlike anything I’ve had at a McDonald’s before.
The sandwich consists of onion, lettuce, tomato, and a sour cream and chive sauce on two Greek patties, wrapped up in pita bread.
The patties are the most interesting thing here. They’re pretty far from standard McDonald’s patties; they’re quite souvlaki-esque, with a surprisingly strong flavour and a sausage-like consistency.
They’re a little bit too salty and hot-doggy, but for the most part they’re not bad.
The sour cream sauce compliments it well, with a nice zippy flavour that helps to offset the saltiness of the patties. The pita bread is a bit dry, but other than that it’s a solid sandwich.
