What to Do / Eat in Beijing, China

The Forbidden City – This is a seriously impressive palace compound right smack-dab in the middle of the city.  If you’re in Beijing, you have absolutely no reason to miss this.

The Great Wall of China – Holy crap, the Great Wall.  Do not miss it.  It’s easily one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.  I visited the Jinshanling section of the wall, which is significantly less busy than the much more popular Badaling section.  It takes a bit of extra effort to do this (just book a tour), but it’s totally worth it.

Food Republic – It took a bit of help from my old friend Google translate, but I was able to eat a delicious bowl of noodles from a restaurant called Food Republic.

McDonald’s – McDonald’s in China has a bunch of menu oddities that you’re probably going to want to check out.

Peking duck wrap – If you don’t want to go to the trouble of getting a whole Peking duck, you can always just buy it as a wrap from a street vendor.

Rice-stuffed chicken wing – I mean, it’s a deboned chicken wing stuffed with rice.  It’s delicious.

Siji Minfu – Don’t be the weirdo who goes to Beijing and doesn’t eat Peking duck (unless you’re a vegetarian, in which case… carry on).
