McDonald’s in Hungary has a pork burger called the Pig McFarm, and it’s actually pretty interesting.

I’ve had pork burgers at McDonald’s before — the Bulgogi Burger in South Korea, the Teriyaki McBurger in Japan, the McBifana in Portugal, etc. — and they’ve all featured a plain pork patty that’s basically like a regular beef burger patty, but with pork.

The the patties in the Pig McFarm, on the other hand, are a bit more interesting.  They’re lightly seasoned and noticeably sausagey.  They actually reminded me quite a bit of cevapi, a type of sausage that’s popular in this part of the world.  They weren’t bad at all.

The burger is topped with cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and something called mustard deluxe sauce.  The sauce is tangy and a little bit sweet, and works nicely with the sausage-like patties.  Everything else is standard McDonald’s.  It’s a solid burger.

The next thing I tried were crispy fried cheese nuggets with bacon.  There’s no English menu here, so I’m not sure what these were called (Google’s translation from the McDonald’s website is “Bacon Cheese Cheeses in Seed Coat,” which doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue).

Fried cheese nuggets seems to be a thing in Europe.  There were the Chili Cheese Tops in Sweden, the Cheese Snacks in Belgium, and the Cheese Wheels with Asparagus in the Czech Republic.  I’m certainly not complaining.  You can’t go wrong with fried cheese.

These things were less like mozzarella sticks, and more like jalapeno poppers.  The inside was soft and gooey, with a really pronounced bacon flavour.  It was actually really tasty.
