Though pork patties are pretty much unheard of at McDonald’s back home, they actually pop up on several international menus (most notably in Germany, where the McRib is a permanent item on the menu).

There were several vendors selling octopus sandwiches in the old area of Bari, so I figured I should probably try one. This was totally fine; the octopus was quite tender and tasty, but otherwise none of the flavours here particularly popped, and the bread was so aggressively crusty that it was difficult to bite through.

The good news: after visiting one international fast food joint after another specializing in fried chicken, I’ve found one that features a traditional burger-heavy menu. The bad news: it’s terrible.

McDonald’s in China is an absolute treasure trove of menu oddities. It’s amazing. There were a few countries where I struggled to find even one or two things that I wanted to order; meanwhile, there was so much stuff I wanted to try in China that I actually wound up having two separate meals at McDonald’s.
Yes, I ate another burger, but in my defense I dare you to watch this video and not immediately want to eat that hamburger.
