Octopus sandwich from Rosticceria Lo Sfizio del Borgo Antico
There were several vendors selling octopus sandwiches in the old area of Bari, so I figured I should probably try one. This was totally fine; the octopus was quite tender and tasty, but otherwise none of the flavours here particularly popped, and the bread was so aggressively crusty that it was difficult to bite through.
Hamburger (??) from Beccheria del Borgo Antico
What I was trying to order was a steak sandwich (“bombette”), but I guess what the guy behind the counter heard was “burger” because that’s what I got. It was fine? I guess? The meat had a nice beefy flavour and a very pronounced crust from the griddle, which was nice. But it was also very dry, and the bread was the same type of overly crusty bun from the octopus sandwich, which worked even less well here than it did there.
