One of the delightful things about Taiwan is the fact that a lot of shopkeepers have dogs that just hang out in and around their stores. There are so many of them that I decided to start taking pictures.
A lot of the dogs were just relaxing in front of their store.
These two guys were relaxing, but then just as I was about to take this picture, they heard something that got them up.
I’m not sure what this sign says, but something about this dog being a good boy, I’m sure.
This dog was conveniently in a box, ready for me to take home.
This amazing French Bulldog (which is also at the top of this post) actually inspired this whole idea. How could you not photograph that face?
His shop was right near my hotel, so I went back to visit him a few times.
He would have been my favourite dog of the trip, but then this guy happened. He was relaxing when I first saw him, but as soon as he noticed me stopping to look at him, his tail immediately started wagging like crazy and he got up to say hi. I haven’t been petting any of the dogs I’ve been seeing, because it’s generally not a great idea to pet a random dog without asking for permission, but this guy was right in my face with his tail wagging, so obviously it had to be done. It was delightful.
Here’s a particularly classy looking shop dog.
This picture doesn’t quite capture it, but this was literally the fattest dog I’ve ever seen. It was amusing at first, but also don’t let your dog get that fat. That’s not cool.
I think this dog is attempting to will his owner into feeding him.
And finally, here’s a shop dog with a bonus shop parrot.
