I’m not having great food luck in Yogyakarta — though I’ve had some delicious stuff here, for the most part the food has been just okay.
That might be somewhat my fault in this case, however. Kangkung Bakar is a restaurant in a mall, and yeah — it’s about what you’d expect from a restaurant in a mall.
I ordered the ayam kota abang, which is a grilled piece of chicken covered in sambal. I also got an order of rice on the side.
It wasn’t bad. The sambal was quite flavourful, with a nice kick, but the chicken was a bit overcooked (it was white meat, which didn’t help). Still, it worked quite well with the rice, even if nothing about it particularly stood out.
