Trani actually makes for a thoroughly delightful day trip from Bari; it’s a quick, cheap train ride away, and it’s extremely scenic.

Trani, Italy

It has a really entrancing seaside vibe, and is one of those places where you can just aimlessly explore and have a great time.

It also has some tasty eats; I went to a bakery called La Sfornata and had a slice of focaccia similar to the one I had at the infinitely more famous Panificio Fiore, and you know what?  It was almost as good.  This one had no olives, but bigger chunks of tomatoes with a sweet, almost sun-dried tomato vibe.  The sweet tomato chunks worked really well with the hearty, crispy focaccia.

Another fun thing in Trani: a typewriter musuem!

Trani, Italy

Yes, an entire museum dedicated to typewriters.  I’ll admit that this doesn’t sound like the most exciting museum ever, but there was something weirdly fascinating about seeing so many typewriters from every period in which they were made.

Including the first typewriter ever:

But even if you’re not interested in learning about the history of typewriters (your loss!), Trani is definitely worth a visit.  I think this is going to be one of those posts where I just let the photos do the talking, because it’s extremely photogenic.
