Though pretty much everything I’ve been eating in Budapest has been great, Mangalica Mennyország was a bit of a mixed bag.
Fried chicken sandwiches are one of those universally delicious foods that’s basically impossible not to love. I’m pretty sure every country in the world enjoys some variation on the dish; it’s crispy, meaty, tasty, and convenient.
What’s better than delicious food? Delicious food that’s also cheap. Somehow, a meal just tastes better when it’s a great deal.
Further proof that if you see a line-up for food, you should immediately get in it: this delicious noodle soup that was in heavy demand at 8:30 in the morning.
Pancakes shancakes. Cereal? Get out of here with that. Noodle soup for breakfast is clearly where it’s at.
Rome is generally not the cheapest city ever, but there are bargains to be had. Example: a great little pasta joint called Pastificio. It’s been around since 1918 (it’s always a good sign when a restaurant has that kind of longevity); it doubles as a shop where you can buy pasta to bring home and cook yourself, and starting at 1:00 P.M., as a purveyor of delightfully cheap (and delicious) meals.
