Fried chicken sandwiches are one of those universally delicious foods that’s basically impossible not to love.  I’m pretty sure every country in the world enjoys some variation on the dish; it’s crispy, meaty, tasty, and convenient.

And Csirke Csibész serves an interesting one.  Featuring fried chicken cutlets, grilled liver, potato salad, tomato, onion, and pickles, it’s absolutely crammed with tasty stuff.

There’s a lot going on here, but the components all compliment each other quite well.  The soft, tender liver contrasts nicely with the crispy chicken (and adds a nice minerally punch of flavour);  the sweet potato salad balances nicely with the savoury chicken and liver; the tomato and onions add freshness and crunch; and the pickles help to cut through the richness of the rest of the sandwich.

It certainly wasn’t perfect — the bun could have been fresher, and the chicken juicier (it was actually quite dry).  But there’s enough delicious stuff going on here that it’s easy to overlook the sandwich’s flaws.

That’s not to mention, of course, that it costs only 790 Ft — just over $3.50 Canadian.  It’s cheap, tasty, and filling.
