Shaved ice is delicious. Pudding is delicious. But is pudding on shaved ice too much of a good thing?
No. No it is not.
They have a variety of traditional shaved ice desserts at Huang Huo Mu Old Taiwan Flavor Ice Shop, but their most popular creation seems to be the one crowned with pudding, and I can see why.
It starts with a fairly enormous mound of shaved ice, which is then topped with a very generous amount of brown sugar syrup and condensed milk, and then, of course, the creme-caramel-esque pudding.
This would be tasty enough with just the syrup and the condensed milk, but the pudding puts it over the top. It’s creamy, custardy, and delicious, and it compliments the sweet, finely-shaved ice quite well.
It was so enormous I thought I might not finish it, but of course, once you start eating something this delicious, it’s impossible to stop.
