Yes, it’s fairly grim, but checking out cemeteries while travelling is oddly compelling.
The Protestant Cemetery in Penang was built in the late 1700s, and is part of the area’s colonial past, filled exclusively with the graves of westerners who died here.
It hasn’t been in use in hundreds of years. It’s not particularly well kept; pretty much everything is in various states of disrepair. It’s also fairly small. But it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.
