If you’re going to Borobudur Temple, you’re probably going to do Prambanan, too — it’s the other major temple in Yogyakarta, and another big reason why people come here in the first place. You can even buy a combined Prambanan/Borobudur ticket, so yeah, don’t fight it. You’re going to see both.
It’s probably a better idea to do Prambanan first, however. As impressive as it is, it has a hard time living up to the majesty of Borobudur.
It’s way easier to get to, at least — there’s a city bus (route 1A) that basically goes right there. It’s a bit of a walk from the bus station, but it’s quite doable.
And of course, it’s very, very impressive. It might not be as impressive as Borobudur, but it’s absolutely worth seeing.
