Thanks to its history of ancient Roman control, Jordan is a treasure-trove of fascinating Roman ruins.
One of the many interesting areas to explore is the Amman Citadel, an area that features some amazing sights.
The Temple of Hercules (or what’s left of it) is particularly striking.
So is Umayyad Palace, an 8th century palace with a very well-restored gateway.
Plus, the area is on top of a hill, so you get a pretty impressive view of the surrounding area.
