I stumbled onto this delightful little hole-in-the-wall gem while walking to Lotus Pond. It looked busy — that’s my main criterion for picking a restaurant if I don’t have a place in mind. If a place is packed with locals, it must be doing something right.
And indeed, it was quite tasty. I ordered a noodle dish with pork, and it seriously hit the spot.
The noodles come topped very simply with pork, green onions and greens. There’s no sauce or soup, but there’s just enough broth at the bottom of the bowl to coat the noodles once you mix it up.
The flavours are pretty basic; the fresh, chewy noodles are the big reason to order this dish. They’re quite thick, with a pronounced chewiness. They’re great. Add a couple of spoonfuls of the inferno-hot chili oil, and you’re in business.
Location: No. 311, Chengfeng Road, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City, 813
How to find it: The restaurant is tiny and easy to miss. It’s right next to a restaurant that sells, oddly enough, hot dogs; when you see the sign with the big hot dog, you know you’re in the right place.
