I’ve already mentioned on this blog how impressive the Louvre is, but I feel like I should reiterate it, because… wow.
It’s hard to adequately convey how massive the place is, and how much impressive art there is to see. On this particular visit, I spent over three hours, and there was an absurd amount of stuff that I either quickly skimmed over, or outright did not see.
If you have the stamina for it, you could easily spend all day here. A better idea might be to come back once or twice, if you have enough time in your trip for it; there’s only so long you can spend looking at art before you become somewhat numb to it and it stops having the impact on you that it should.
On this particular visit, the place was an absolute madhouse on the outside, and I was afraid that the whole museum would be swarming with crowds. But like my last visit, that’s really only true of the Mona Lisa and of the areas surrounding the Mona Lisa, which look like this:
The crowd level in the rest of the museum is quite reasonable.
Some rooms even look like this:
But seriously, if you come to Paris, skip the Louvre at your own peril; it’s easily my favourite museum, and I’ve been to a bunch.
