I’m not a big bubble tea drinker — mostly because I tend to avoid caffeine — but Chun Shui Tang might just be the inventor of the drink.  Obviously, exceptions need to be made.

Chun Shui Tang

Chun Shui Tang has been around since 1983, and claim they invented bubble tea back in 1987.  Another tea shop — the Hanlin Tea House in Tainan — also claims to have invented it, so… who knows.  Someone invented it, and maybe it was Chun Shui Tang, so it’s probably worth giving it a shot.

Sadly, the original location appears to be closed at the moment (I think it’s under renovations?  They had a sign up, but Google Translate wasn’t much help), so I checked out a newer location.

They actually have a fairly extensive menu, including a whole bunch of food (most people around me were eating), but I was there exclusively to bubble tea it up.

I quite enjoyed it.  The milk tea was sweet and frothy, and the tapioca pearls were satisfyingly chewy.  I’d say it was the best bubble tea I’ve ever had, but then I can count the amount of bubble teas I’ve had on one hand, so it wouldn’t mean much.

LocationNo. 68號, Gongyi Road, West District, Taichung City, Taiwan 403

How to find it: It’s one level down in the Park Lane by CMP shopping mall.
