As you’d imagine, bubble tea is pretty huge in Taiwan. It was invented here, after all. I avoid caffeine, which means I’m out of luck. Or am I…?
Yes, yes I am.
But! There’s something called brown sugar bubble milk, which is basically bubble tea without the tea.
There’s a place in Taipei called I’Milky that serves it, and it’s really good.
The milk itself isn’t sweet at all — but then there’s the brown sugar and tapioca mixture at the bottom of the cup, and as you’d expect from the name, it has a rich brown sugar flavour.
The creamy milk, sweet brown sugar, and chewy tapioca balls are a boffo combination. I could drink these all day.
Location: No. 24之1號, Section 1, Roosevelt Rd, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100
How to find it: It’s actually right around the corner from Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice. It would absolutely hit the spot after a tasty bowl of pork rice.
