I kinda felt like having chicken rice for my last meal in Malaysia, but I wasn’t particularly keen on walking in the sweltering heat to a restaurant that probably would have been closed thanks to Chinese New Year.
So I wound up going to the chicken rice joint in the food court of the mall around the corner from my hotel.
I got lazy. I was punished for my laziness.
I was hoping for steamed chicken rice; it was sold out, so I went with roasted instead. It was extremely shoddy.
It wasn’t horrible, I guess, but the rice was dry and tasteless, and the chicken was completely overcooked. It came with a little container of sauce that was one-note sweet. The soup was so salty that I couldn’t even finish it.
It was a sad, sad plate of chicken rice. I’ll be thinking about it the next time I start feeling lazy.

How to find it: I really don’t know why you’d want to, but if you must, it’s on the fourth floor of the 1st Avenue Mall.
