This isn’t going to be the longest post ever, but there are a couple of facts that I need to point out.
The Ming Wah Bakery in Mong Kok serves a bunch of tasty looking pastries, including a pineapple bun. The pineapple bun costs literally half of what the bun at Kam Wah costs (3.50 HKD versus 7 HKD) and is equally delicious.
When I tried it, it was fresh, had a really satisfying crispy top, and was pleasantly chewy and fluffy on the inside. It’s really good.
I went back a bit later and tried this pancake-like pastry that’s filled with red bean, and yeah, that was quite good as well. It had a super chewy, mochi-like texture and a decent amount of sweet red bean inside.
Location: Hong Kong, Mong Kok, 旺角豉油街29號地下
How to find it: There’s no English, but the impressive spread of pastries is hard to miss.
