Though Fukuoka Castle, originally built in the 1600s, is long gone, parts of it still remain (mostly just some of the walls).
What’s left is scenic enough that it’s definitely still worth seeing.
Plus, it’s in the middle of Maizuru Park, which would be quite nice at any time in the year, but which was especially breathtaking when I visited — right smack-dab in the middle of cherry blossom season.
Clearly, this is the time to come here. It only lasts about a week, but if you have the ability to be here during that week, it’s totally worth it.
