The curry sauce in the mutton curry at Wai Kee is ridiculously good. It’s one of those things that’s so incredibly tasty, anything you put in it will immediately become delicious.
The Bowrington Road Cooked Food Centre is a food court right next to a busy market, and it’s a bit of a madhouse. Like with many places in Hong Kong, you’ll probably be sharing a table — but once you sit down, it’s easy enough to order, as they do have an English menu.
Their roast duck seems to be pretty popular, but trust me: you’re going to want to try the mutton curry.
The mutton itself is fine — it’s a bit tough, but it’s tasty enough. That sauce, though. It’s perfection; it’s incredibly rich and meaty, with a nice level of spice and a really vibrant curry flavour. I could eat this forever. I want a lifetime supply so I can eat it on everything.
Location: 23 Bowrington Rd, Bowrington, Hong Kong
How to find it: The food court itself is on the upper floor of the market. Once you’re there, Wai Kee is stall number five.
