I couldn’t resist.  After my amazing (and amazingly cheap) first meal at Edessaïkó, I had to come back one more time.

This time, I tried the pork chop in tomato sauce, and was able to try a variety of sides — pasta, rice, fried potato slices, and roast potatoes.

Edessaïkó

I was afraid that maybe I had just gotten lucky on my first visit, and that the rest of the food would be as mediocre as you’d expect from a restaurant with such rock-bottom prices.

Nope!  If anything, the pork chop was even better than the moussaka.

The meat was braised rather than grilled, and the texture was fork tender and incredibly satisfying.  It had a nice porky flavour that was complimented quite well by the rich tomato sauce.

The sides were just as good (aside from the pasta, which was mushy and unspectacular); the rice does a great job of soaking up the juices from the pork, the fried potatoes are crispy and creamy, and the roast potatoes are just as tasty as they were when I had the moussaka.

And of course, there’s the delightful price.  I figured this might be more expensive than the moussaka, but again, it was three Euros on the dot.  I mean, come on.  If you can find another restaurant in Europe with such a ridiculous price-to-deliciousness ratio, I’d like to hear about it.
