If you’re looking for a really tasty, filling meal in Jaipur, you could certainly do worse than the omelette sandwiches at Sanjay Omelette.
I ordered the masala omelette, and it was incredibly heavy. I don’t know how many eggs they put in this thing, but I’m guessing at least three or four. That’s not to mention the obviously intense amount of butter — the bread is absolutely soaked through, and the whole thing is exceptionally greasy.
Yes, the omelette comes with four slices of heavily buttered bread, so it’s essentially two omelette sandwiches in one.
It’s quite tasty. The omelette is well cooked, nicely spiced, and filled with onions and other veggies. It comes with a side of pickled onions, a zingy red sauce (this looks like it should be spicy, but isn’t, sadly), and a green paste-like substance. The red sauce and the pickled onions both do a great job of cutting through the almost overwhelming richness of the sandwich. The green stuff, on the other hand, was somewhat bitter — I wasn’t crazy about it.
