A samosa was one of those things I knew I’d have to try at least once before leaving India. Basically anytime you wrap something in dough and deep fry it, it’s going to be delicious. Samosas are not the exception to this rule.
And Samrat certainly knows their stuff. Their samosas are pretty great.
I will admit, however, that they’re not substantially better than the best samosas I’ve had back home. But then that’s one of the advantages of living in a city as multicultural as Toronto.
Still, they’re very good — the exterior is crispy but not overbearing, and the filling is nicely spiced. It’s quite tasty. Plus, they top it with a very zesty sauce that’s sour and a little bit sweet. It does a great job of cutting through the richness of the deep-fried snack.
