Despite my love for ice cream, I’ve somehow gone my whole life without trying the Indian version of the dish, kulfi. I regret this mightily. Eating the kulfi at Ramchandra Kulfi Bhandar was definitely one of those “where has this been my whole life??” moments.
They have a bunch of other stuff on the menu, including lassi, lassi with ice cream (which is probably delicious), various milkshakes, and of course, kulfi.
It’s amazing. It has a much thicker, richer consistency than traditional ice cream — it’s almost like a cross between ice cream and fudge. It’s irresistible.
And the flavour was great — it’s perfectly sweet, with a really interesting flavour (it has a distinct taste of rosewater, among other things I can’t quite put my finger on). It’s also topped with slivered almonds and pistachios, which gives it a nice nutty crunch. It’s an amazing dessert.
