Breizh Cafe specializes in galettes (buckwheat crepes stuffed with various fillings), and wow. That’s all I’m going to say. Wow.
Okay, I guess I’ll say a bit more than “wow,” but I think that about sums it up.
The classic is the Complete, which comes stuffed with Comté cheese, ham, butter, and a perfectly cooked egg. It’s glorious.
Every element here just works so well: the gooiness from the cheese, the meatiness from the ham, and the richness from the egg and the butter all mix into something that’s downright magical. Then there’s the crepe itself, which has a mildly nutty flavour and a perfect light crispiness on its exterior and chewiness on its interior.
It’s very simple, but the quality of the ingredients and preparation is so finely honed that it adds up to one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long, long time. After I had my last bite, I very seriously considered ordering another one; if I weren’t traveling on a budget, I probably would have! It’s that good.
