Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.  The plan was to check out a well-regarded dosa joint, but when I went inside, it was almost completely deserted.  The only customers were obvious tourists.  So I pulled a Grandpa Simpson and got the hell out of there.

There was, however, a fairly busy looking restaurant a bit down the road called Ifthar.  Sure; why not?

I wound up ordering veggie korma with paratha roti.  Nothing about it blew my mind, but it was a solid lunch.

The korma was nice and creamy, with a relatively mild flavour and a gentle heat that’s there, but that probably isn’t going to make anybody sweat.  Still, it was tasty, and featured a nice variety of well-cooked veggies.

The roti was the highlight.  With its flaky texture, crispy exterior and chewy interior (not to mention its profound level of greasiness), this stuff is super addictive.  It’s hard to go wrong with this type of roti, no matter what you’re eating it with.

How to find it: The sign isn’t in English, but look for the red text next to a green circular logo with the outline of a fork, knife, and spoon.
